Marxist vs. Nazi in the World Series of Love

John T. Simpson, digitial jornalist:
You cannot oppose ObamaCare without being a swastika-waving corporate Nazi stooge.
Good lord, that is TERRIBLE! The wallflowers and milquetoasts of the right could never hope to stand up against the rhetorical excesses of the...oh what's this?
As I stood on the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Midway twenty-five years ago, I was fully aware of the enemy we had been confronting since the end of WWII. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be fighting a Cold War at home a quarter-century later, and against that very same rigid Marxist ideology.
Regarding "swastika-waving corporate Nazi stooge" there's some fun to be had in comments.

The Eternal Immigrant

Over at Sadly, No! Gavin writes the typical thing he writes that is better than anything I attempt to write. Apart from the equally typical burning jealousy I feel upon reading Gavin's work, I noticed Donald Douglas's similarly deft touch with satire:

Can't spell "conservative" without reading Mein Kampf.

Thanks to the perpetually clicking finger of my daughter I have stumbled across the genre of "here are my toys" videos. An example:

This is simply astonishing, he said as he contemplated another post about comic books. Perhaps he will one day post about The Micronauts, which had awesome fucking music in the toy commercials in Japan:

Lawmakers suggest Kennedy widow as his successor
(AFP) – 2 hours ago
WASHINGTON — Lawmakers on Sunday suggested that the senate seat held by late US Senator Ted Kennedy could be filled by his widow, Vicki, despite her professed reluctance to take the job.

"Whatever Vicki wants to do, I'm in her corner," said Democratic US Senator Chris Dodd, speaking to CNN television.
I trust the captain of the Imperial Guard assents.

I really hate this sort of thing, but if it's being touted in an attempt to shore up health-care reform, maybe it's useful. Seems a little bold for Democratic politics though.

John Ziegler:
On August 28th of last year Sarah Palin was a largely unknown governor considered to be a rising star largely because of her willingness to take on Republicans in a way that had endeared her to Democrats. Today she is an ex-governor wrongly perceived by most of the country and virtually all of the news media as an erratic, unqualified, lightweight and ultra-partisan Republican who can’t even mange her own family.

What did she do exactly to deserve this unfortunate perception?

Except for the 60s

Victoria Jackson, loon:
I only want the best for everyone. My beliefs in the Bible, and freedom and capitalism are only ideals that bless people. And, they worked real good from 1776 to 2008…with a hitch in the 60s where immorality, free love, the pill, drugs, divorce, and the breakup of the family started the thread of morality unraveling.
Attention historians: the civil war was nicer than you think.

Here's an hour of Jean Shepherd, narrator and writer of A Christmas Story.

Here's another.

Fun.

Why Is This Molehill Not Mountainous?

Bill Whittle asks a question:
Here’s a question for you: Why is Rodney King famous and Kenneth Gladney unknown?
Well, Bill, I gotta assume that Kenneth Gladney hasn't been the trigger for rioting that destroyed parts of a city and instead was a guy involved in a trivial dustup somewhere.

An amusing Gladney link.

Maybe I can't get this out of my head because I really like quitting stuff. Thrill to the extra-tedious guitar solo. And in YouTube comments some dumbass says Aimee Mann is better than Joni Mitchell except for Mitchell's first album. I RATE FOR JONI.

The Usual Buzz

Shorter Fouad Ajami:
Third World French political protest liberalism insurrection challenge ObamaCare political class media elite protest usurpation tumult community organizer liberalism power script et cetera.
For all the crap about teleprompters and scripts, people writing for the Wall Street Journal sure do hit certain notes a lot. "Third World" x 4.

Really the shorter is just OBAMA IS NO GOOD but the icing is pretty much the cake here: somehow the Wall Street Journal apparently dictates that you must produce sentences to add slurs to instead of a big picture of Obama with NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER all over it. What is this odd insistence on articles instead of bathroom scrawlings? Can't be shame.

A Story

This Boy's Life: Being Transsexual in Kuwait
I had my breast implants done in Syria without any problems because it is a really open-minded country. I kept them for three years until I was obliged to remove them when the police caught me," he added.

Transsexuals in Kuwait face a variety of abuse, including arrest for dressing and acting like a woman. "The police caught me in the street, wearing a female outfit and then I discovered that my father was behind [the arrest] to scare me; they took me to the police station and shaved my head. Then they force me to remove my silicone breasts because of the law here and that really hurt me deeply because I felt that they where denying me of my femininity and my choice of freedom," he said with a lump in his throat.

After this incident my father then tried to make it up to me by securing me a job and a new car, but what the point of providing me with all this and still are not accepting and loving who I am?

What is so hypocritical in the story was the policemen who caught me, shaved my head then tried to sleep with me. This is not all - if any policeman stops me in the street and asks for my number and I refuse, he will threaten to take me to the police station," he revealed.

What Would You Do?

Some dumb fucking relatives of mine decided to go to Mexico and leave their 15 and 10 year old boys behind for a week. They left them with a bunch of money.

What do you figure the kids did?

Well, they bought three hamsters and a pair of shorts.

Good kids, those two, but their grandma and their aunt are now shepherding them after they got frightened in a lightning storm and that one trip to the emergency room.

Important Information!

Heroism

Mr. Edroso:
Well, it's about time. A study in the New England Journal of Medicine based on research conducted by (natch) Canadians suggests that the best way to treat heroin addicts is... prescriptions for heroin.

O-Kay...

Josh Marshall:
One moment stands out clearly in my mind. Back in the early days of the Bush administration, Mickey Kaus had a typically contrarian post in which he suggested that with the rising tide of animosity on the left toward President Bush it was only a matter of time before we saw the outcropping of political violence on the left, to parallel what we'd seen from the right with the Clinton-hatred of the mid-1990s. (Perhaps someone can dig up the post? Late Update: Found.) It was a typically Kausian post, not only for its strained contrarianism but more for its complete failure of predictive value.

Here is documentary footage of my reaction:

Get Your Envelopes Ready

Via TPM, lookit Michelle Bachmann:
"If I felt that's what the Lord was calling me to do, I would do it," she answered. "When I have sensed that the Lord is calling me to do something, I've said yes to it. But I will not seek a higher office if God is not calling me to do it. That's really my standard.

"If I am called to serve in that realm I would serve," she concluded, "but if I am not called, I wouldn't do it."
How much would it cost you to send her mail - urging her to run of course - with a return address of Heaven?

Airheads Down at the Pawn Shop Selling TVs...

Telepathic Ed on his horrible life as an Airhead:
I went to an Oxygen Bar at the Del Mar Fair, always wanted to do that, and afterwards I bought a couple small Canisters of 90% pure Oxygen. Ever since before I go to the Gym I've been taking a few Hits of this before I go to the Car. Makes you lightheaded but seems to work well, I've had Good Workouts. But I don't think that my driving to the Gym is as Sharp as it usually is. I don't want you People to do this, I'm sure it'll go awry, you'll get in an Accident, maybe OD.

Enjoyment for Hundreds of Millions

Let us recall the funk-metal stylings of Michael S. Rulle Jr.

Here he is again. After 1800 words of Beatles trivia - not a bad thing in itself if unclunked a little - we have this:
So what political message am I going to pull from this 40th anniversary of the dissolution of the Beatles? It is obvious, right? They were poor, but not victims. They did not ask for hand outs. They could not have been invented by a government program. They pursued self interest but provided enjoyment for hundreds of millions. Why is this not the message of our current president and his congressional allies?
What "this"? I'm stumped. The market will make more Beatles? Nobody should have done anything about that collapsing market which was so great it made Beatles? Democrats aren't in the greed game like The Beatles? The government should mail acid to everyone? Socialist environments like the UK would have killed Steven Hawking could never have produced The Beatles? THE BEATLES therefore nothing else unlike The Beatles?
